D-factory
Collective housing
D-factory is a former rubber factory turned into residences and offices.
It is located inside a housing estate and is the informal connection between the Turnhoutsebaan and the Plankenbergstraat. The block consists of 13 flats around an esplanade and 11 duplex apartments in the industrial building around a tropical garden. An art gallery and a centre for psychologists reinforce the semi public character of this inner area.
Each housing unit has its own outside space. All flats have a terrace and the houses have a private garden. The common semi public areas are the esplanade with the plane trees and the tropical garden with the outdoor swimming pool.
