The Wielerdroom building in Heusden-Zolder is not entirely finished yet, but the brand-new cycling track is ready. It was celebrated earlier this week with a first official lap: top athletes Robbe Ghys and Nicky Degrendele did the honours.
Jan Peumans, chairman of Sportcomplex Vlaanderen/Heusden-Zolder gave the starting signal after which, among others, Minister of Sport Ben Weyts and inspirer and former cyclist Marc Wauters set off on their bikes.
This means that the finishing line for the realisation of the multifunctional sports complex at the Circuit of Zolder is gradually coming into sight. The gym, medical centre, meeting rooms, fitness, exercise lab and sports bar are also nearing completion.
