B-architecten

B is the sum of four studio divisions called B-architecten, B-bis, B-city and B-juxta. At B-architecten, we design sustainable buildings that enhance both the urban and the open space.

(Nomination) Campus Opera was nominated for the RES Awards in the category (semi-) public development. We renovated and restored the former Provincial Safety Institute in Antwerp's historic city centre and transformed it into a new innovative learning environment for KU Leuven. The winners will be announced on 20 February, so fingers crossed!

(Published, times two!) The new book ‘Soft Power’ looks back at ten years of Kristiaan Borret as Bouwmeester Maître Architecte (BMA) in Brussels. Two B-projects were included: the community centre Centr'Al, which forms the new gateway to the Albertpool district in Forest, and the mixed-use building City Dox 7, showcasing the potential of contemporary urban development in the Brussels canal area.

(News) The permits for Move'Hub have been obtained. The project will transform the Brussels Midi district, offering spaces for living, working, and leisure activities. > Learn more! <

(We won) Great news: the multifunctional sports complex Velodroom in Heusden-Zolder won the Belgian BIM Award! The project was developed as part of an open BIM workshare. This resulted in a more efficient and accurate construction process, which was essential for the successful realisation of this complex building.

(News!) The brand new B x Heem collaboration ‘Pompier’ was officially launched. The former fire station at Antwerp's Park Spoor Noord is a unique heritage site that we will restore and transform into an equally exceptional residential project.

(Fully installed) We’ve officially expanded, and we’re excited to share the photos with you! At B, we’ve breathed new life into the historic Cinema Lux, creating much-needed space for our growing team in Antwerp. This iconic building now serves as our brand-new workspace, designed to take us into the next decade and beyond.

Organising an architecture firm: how does one do it? NAV paid B a visit and interviewed us, as well as three other architecture studios, about how we organise our daily operations. Indeed, we scrutinised that structure a few years ago and made major adjustments. We transformed our office from a traditional top-down business model to a self-managing, horizontal organisation.
