Foundation stone for sports and youth centre Nieuwpoort
The foundation stone of Nieuwpoort's brand new sports and youth complex was officially laid this morning [21/4 2023]. The project involves the expansion of the existing sports facilities in sports park De Lenspolder. There will be a spacious sports hall and an extensive youth centre, including sufficient outdoor space. The building will also house the offices of the youth and sports department.
Actual construction work started early 2023 and is now in full swing. Work is currently in progress on the shell of the sports hall, the first part of the new building. The drainage of the sports hall has already been installed and columns have been placed on the site which, together with huge trusses, will support the roof structure. In the next few weeks, the foundation slab of the sports hall will be laid and the walls constructed.
Once the main structural works on the sports hall are completed, works on the youth wing will start. From the beginning of May 2023 until the start of the summer holidays, the foundation works of the youth hall will take place and the façades, walls and roof will be constructed. By summer 2024, the entire project should be completed.
The sports and youth complex will be an attractive meeting place for children, young people, sports enthusiasts and associations.
