The new police station in Ostend is the result of a competition won according to the DBM (design, build, maintenance) formula. Together with De Smet Vermeulen Architecten, we designed a high-performance, contemporary and fully up-to-date Nearly Energy Neutral (BEN) police station.

With its distinctive architecture, the new police station is a recognisable building. The material palette is similar to that of the adjacent residential buildings, but additional materials dominate. Yellow brick, white concrete, bronze-coloured joinery and natural-coloured zinc define the building. In terms of its functions, the office brings together all the police services under one roof, except for the district police. A parking lot for service vehicles completes the programme. The result is an accessible building for the public and at the same time a pleasant workplace for the police.
