Roeselare town hall wins Publica Climate Responsibility Award
(16.11.2023) We won! We are more than proud to announce that Roeselare town hall gets to take home the Publica Award in the category Climate Responsibility. This award is granted to the public project that makes a significant contribution to preserving the environment and working towards a more sustainable future for our society. With its circular demolition and construction process, the town hall was able to convince the jury.
However, Roeselare town hall faced stiff competition. Indeed, the project shared this category with six strong fellow nominees: the observatory and educational trail in Rèves, the heat strategy of the City of Mechelen, the greening of the Groeninge Park of the City of Kortrijk, the Water District Metered Areas of Vivaqua, ASTER of Ingenium, and the electric ferry for the ferry service in Nieuwpoort.
About Roeselare's sustainable town hall
Located in the heart of the city, the town hall of Roeselare is currently undergoing a major makeover. The striking architecture (with the entrance gate again on the Grote Markt) and the integration of historical monuments and heritage into the project immediately catch the eye. The outdated buildings are making way for a sustainable and accessible administrative centre where residents, policy-makers and city employees can meet. A new inner garden will give a green impulse to Roeselare's city centre. The new town hall will open mid-2024. It will be the most sustainable town hall in Flanders, thanks to the high sustainability standards it meets and all the circular efforts that were made during demolition.

Also our restoration of the walkway of the widely known Pier in Blankenberge, a structure from the 1930s, was nominated for the Publica Awards this year in the Heritage & Architecture category, which rewards architectural heritage.
Furthermore, we are looking forward to 30 November, when the FEBE awards will be presented. The Pier was nominated for this prize as well, as was the brand-new events hall Ravelingen in Knokke-Heist. Just a little more patience to see if our projects get to take home the first prize here too...
