Turnova is a vibrant new neighbourhood near the Grote Markt in the middle of Turnhout. B-architecten designed six of the buildings, including Rotor.
Rotor functions as the hub of Turnova’s pedestrian shopping precinct. The transparent base consists of retail space; the solid superstructure contains apartments. The red brickwork of the former printing-house buildings was given a contemporary reinterpretation. The facades consist of layers of horizontal and vertical brickwork, broken by narrow frames in red concrete.
The building comprises 12 apartments and 4 commercial spaces. The residents can enjoy the large communal roof garden and terrace situated above the shopping areas.
