In november 2004 a center for contemporary art, called Extra City, opened its doors in a former grain silo in the trendy part of the Antwerp harbour, het Eilandje.
After consultation with the owner some minor changes were made to the infrastructure of the warehouse, so it could be used as a temporary art hall.
